SnapCabinet Guide
Master your digital archive. Learn how to verify, secure, and organize your documents with intelligent on-device tools.
Getting Started
SnapCabinet is your intelligent digital filing cabinet. It uses the power of your device to scan, analyze, and organize your physical documents into a searchable, secure digital library.
Core Concepts
Capture
High-speed scanning with edge detection.
Recall
Instant search powered by on-device OCR.
Secure
Optional biometric access control adds a local barrier.
Scanning Documents
The scanner is the heart of SnapCabinet. It automatically detects document edges, corrects perspective, and enhances legibility.
How to Scan
- Tap the + button to open the scanner.
- Hold your device steady over the document.
- The app will automatically detect edges and take the shot.
- Review your scans and tap Save.
Organization
Keep your documents tidy with powerful folder management and color-coded categories.
Folders & Tags
Create folders for "Taxes," "Medical," "Receipts," and more. Customize them with colors and icons to find them at a glance.
Search & OCR
SnapCabinet reads your documents so you don't have to. Every scan is analyzed for text content.
Intelligent Search
Just type what you remember—a date, a total amount, or a keyword like "Invoice". SnapCabinet searches the actual content of your documents, not just the file names.
Security
Your documents often contain sensitive personal information. SnapCabinet treats them that way.
Biometric Lock
Enable FaceID or TouchID to lock the entire app. This ensures that even if your phone is unlocked, your private documents remain secure behind a second layer of biometric authentication.
Sync & Backup
SnapCabinet can keep your archive available across devices through your own Apple account while preserving Elidron's no-access data model.
Personal iCloud
Documents sync through the iCloud account configured on your device, not through Elidron servers.
Device availability
Use the same Apple account on your iPhone and iPad to keep the cabinet current where you need it.
Backup readiness
Keep iCloud Backup enabled so a lost or replaced device can restore your document archive.
Recommended setup
Confirm iCloud is enabled for SnapCabinet in iOS Settings, then open the app after major imports so the device has time to upload new files before you rely on another device.
Export remains available
For records you need outside the app, export PDFs or images through the system share sheet and store copies wherever your household or business process requires them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my data stored in the cloud?
Documents start in SnapCabinet's local app storage. If you enable the app's iCloud features or include it in an iCloud backup, Apple processes that copy under your Apple account and terms; Elidron does not operate the iCloud account or receive the document copy.
How does the OCR work?
SnapCabinet is designed to run Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on your device using Apple's Vision framework, allowing document text to be indexed without sending it to an Elidron OCR service.
Can I export my documents?
Yes, you can export documents as PDF or images. You can share them via the standardized share sheet to any other app, email, or AirDrop.
What happens if I lose my device?
If you enabled iCloud Backup or Sync and the upload completed before the loss, your archive may be recoverable through Apple. Keep a separate verified export of critical records because no sync or backup method guarantees recovery.
