Scribet Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 9, 2026 · Elidron LLC (Florida, USA)

Scope

This Privacy Policy covers the Scribet native macOS application offered by Elidron LLC (Florida, USA) and these dedicated policy pages. Scribet is a local-first voice-to-text utility; it does not provide a hosted transcription service.

What We Store On Your Mac

  • Transcription history, including text, timestamp, duration, and model name
  • Optional saved audio recordings if you enable Save captured audio
  • Application preferences, including hotkey, audio device, theme, and transcription settings
  • Downloaded or user-provided local model files and model metadata
  • Local configuration in Scribet's Application Support container

What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not receive your microphone recordings or transcribed text
  • We do not run a cloud transcription pipeline for Scribet
  • No analytics, ads, or tracking SDKs in the app
  • No cookies or tracking pixels on these Scribet web pages
  • No sale or sharing of personal information

Microphone, Speech Recognition & Accessibility

Scribet requests Microphone permission to record your voice locally. Accessibility permission is used so Scribet can paste transcribed text into the currently focused app. If you enable native wake-word listening, macOS may request Speech Recognition permission. These permissions are handled by macOS; Elidron does not receive your permission data.

On-Device Transcription

Scribet transcribes locally using installed Whisper.cpp or sherpa-onnx models. Audio samples are processed on your Mac. Your voice is not sent to Elidron for transcription.

Data That May Leave Your Mac

  • Model download requests you initiate may contact upstream hosting services such as GitHub or Hugging Face, which may receive standard request metadata such as IP address and user agent
  • If Scribet auto-downloads a default model or supporting VAD model, that download request is made to the upstream model host
  • When Scribet pastes text into another app, that app receives the transcribed text according to its own behavior and privacy policy
  • If you share, export, sync, or back up Scribet data through macOS, iCloud, or another service, that service handles the data under its own terms
  • If you contact Elidron for support, we receive the information you choose to send

Clipboard & Text Injection

To insert text into other apps, Scribet places the transcription on the macOS clipboard and sends a paste shortcut using native system events. The transcribed text may remain on your clipboard until you replace it.

Optional Audio Saving

Scribet can optionally save captured audio as WAV files in its local recordings folder and link those files from History. This setting is controlled by you. If it is off, recordings are used for transcription and are not intentionally saved as history audio files.

Security

  • Scribet data is stored inside the app's macOS container and Application Support directories
  • Local data remains subject to your Mac account security, FileVault settings, device passcode, backups, and other system protections
  • Model files are stored locally and remain under your control
  • You are responsible for the security of any third-party app where you paste transcribed text

Retention & Deletion

Scribet data remains on your Mac until you delete it. You can delete individual history entries, clear history, remove downloaded models, disable optional audio saving, or delete the app and its local data. Backups or synced copies may need to be removed separately in the services you use.

Apple & macOS Diagnostics

Apple may provide Elidron with high-level App Store, crash, or diagnostic reports when users have enabled those Apple features. These reports are governed by Apple's terms and are not a copy of your recordings or transcripts.

California Privacy (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell or share personal information. Because Scribet does not maintain centralized user transcript records, typical CCPA rights to know, delete, or correct generally do not apply to app data stored only on your Mac. If you contact us about a privacy request, we will respond and explain what, if anything, we can access or delete.

Children

Scribet is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If we materially change this policy, we will update the date below and post the revised version here. Continued use after an update means you accept the changes.
